OSMTJ or OSMTH?
Unfortunately, and especiallly on the Internet, there appear to be many forms of Knights Templar organisations. In particular there is some confusion between the shorthand use of the initials OSMTJ and OSMTH. Indeed you may even have seen one group purporting to suggest that OSMTJ and OSMTH are the same.
So let's just have a look at these initials to see what they actually stand for:
OSMTJ is the French title of the "Ordre Souverain et Militaire du Temple de Jérusalem"
or in English, the Sovereign and Military Order of the Temple of Jerusalem.
OSMTH is the Latin title of the "Ordo Supremus Militaris Templi Hierosolymiltani"
or in English, the Supreme Military Order of the Temple of Jerusalem.
Even if one ignores the differences between the French and Latin titles it is obvious from the English that a Sovereign and Military Order is not the same as a Supreme Military Order.
